The Waterloo Manufacturing Co. was founded in the early 1900s by John Froelich to build internal combustion engines. The company is most famous for building the second properly successful vehicle, after the Ford Model T car. The vehicle was designed for general farm work and was called the Waterloo Boy. Until the company was bought in 1918 by John Deere, multiple versions were made, the two best-known being the Overtime Model R, and the final version, the Model N, which was in production until about 1923.
