Vintage Vehicle Shildon Ltd is a privately run museum based at Shildon in County Durham, England. The collection is mainly Commercial vehicle based, but has several rollers & other items such as yard cranes, fire engines and tractors. The collection mainly features Bedford trucks but several other Marque are also represented.

History[]

The collection was started by M. Bowman, a retired 3rd generation haulage contractor. The companies history going back to 1890 when his grandfather started with a horse and cart, hauling Coal and sand & gravel for building works in Northumberland.

The collection has a range of vehicles from concourse condition restorations to virtual wrecks awaiting restoration. A few of the exhibits are owned by other collectors.

Opening hours[]

The collection is normally open on Saturday and Sundays plus Bank Holidays. The museum will open at other times for parties to visit by prior arrangement. The Road Roller Association members had a visit in early 2010 during their AGM meeting held at nearby Durham.

The museum is located along side the 'Locomotion' railway museums demonstration track between its visitor reception and the main 'collection' building.
