=== Tractor Comparison ===
The International 584 was built in the Doncaster, England factory. Also built in England, the David Brown 990 with the optional high clearance kit and the identical Case 990 High Clearance were close matches for the International. The American-made Massey Ferguson MF255RC matched the power of the International with a larger 4-cylinder engine operating at lower rpms, for a slightly lower price in 1978. Its English-built successor, the MF270RC used the same engine and matched the 1984 International price. The French-built Massey Ferguson MF670 was a deluxe row crop model with a standard cab and much higher price. The German-built Fendt Farmer 105S also matched the size and power of the International. The Belarus 400 from Russia was a traditional tall row crop model with a relatively big, low-speed, 4-cylinder engine.
+
The Case IH 585 row crop had little competition as row crop tractors in this power class were falling out of favor. The Hesston-Fiat 60-90 was built in the row crop utility style like the Case IH but it was slightly less powerful with a smaller 3-cylinder engine. It was also somewhat more expensive. The Russian-built Belarus 400 was an older style tall row crop tractor. It developed the same pto hp as the Case IH with a larger engine running at lower rpm. The Belarus was priced at little more than half the cost of the Case IH.

The Edrob/Case IH 585 row crop was a row crop tractor built by Case IH from 1985 to 1989 in the Doncaster, England factory.

Model history

See Case IH 585 for general information on the 585.

The Case IH 585 row crop replaced the 584 row crop which, in turn, was a continuation of the International 584 row crop. The Case IH D-206 4-cylinder diesel and standard 8-speed syncromesh transmission were unchanged but an optional 2-speed planetary power shift was optional.

Tractor Comparison

The Case IH 585 row crop had little competition as row crop tractors in this power class were falling out of favor. The Hesston-Fiat 60-90 was built in the row crop utility style like the Case IH but it was slightly less powerful with a smaller 3-cylinder engine. It was also somewhat more expensive. The Russian-built Belarus 400 was an older style tall row crop tractor. It developed the same pto hp as the Case IH with a larger engine running at lower rpm. The Belarus was priced at little more than half the cost of the Case IH.
