The Thursford Collection Founders Day is a special event that was First held in 2008 at the Thursford Steam Museum in Memory of 'George Cushing' the founder of the collection. The museum was opend up allow steam enthusiasts a open tour of the museum at the start of its summer season. The museum is now famouse for its Christmas Shows and Organ concerts and runs a Winter wonderland Santa Claus special tour for children in the late Autumn till Christmas. The 2008 event was such a popular event that it was repeated in 2009 with some visitors enjoying a bonus trip to the Farm to see more of the engines that are stored there. The History of the collection was explained by Mr. Cushing Jnr. to the visitors. During the day the Fairground Organ was played by the resident organist & the (some) Fairground Rides were operational for visitors.
