The Automobile Palace dealer plate - IMG 7346 edited

A dealer plate (reproduction?) as fixed to a David Brown tractor.

The Automobile Palace Ltd was an Motor Vehicle and Agricultural machinery dealer based in Landrindod Wells, Wales.

Company history[]

The company started out as a cycle dealership in the 1800s and expanded into the "new" automobile market in the early 1900s & grew rapidly. The company bought the prestigious corner site for the 'huge' sum of £1 per sy yard in 1908. Unknown

The striking Art Deco style building built in stages from the early 1900's survives today and is home to the National Cycle Collection of vintage and classic cycles & memorabilia from the early 1800s to the modern day. The building is also used by the local council for offices. It was a very early example of steel framed construction in Wales in the Art Deco style.
