• Use this Redirect category (RCAT) template for redirects that are considered "historic" names for the target article. Use {{R to historic name}} for redirects that target an article that is titled with a historic name. Do not use {{R from historic name}} on redirects that are nonhistoric former names or former working titles of the target article. If the name is not considered historic, then use {{R from former name}}.
Example: Calcutta → Kolkata; the historic capital of West Bengal in India was Calcutta.
  • Apply this Rcat in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[(Target page name)]] {{R from historic name}}
This is in accord with the instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
