Swaraj Engines is an Indian diesel engine builder for agricultural tractors, and engine components for Swaraj Mazda. It was a division of Punjab Tractors, (which sold under the Swaraj brand), along with Swaraj Mazda.
The company was founded by Punjab with technical assistance from Kirloskar in 1986. In 2007, Mahindra purchased Punjab Tractors, and with it came a 33.2% stake in Swaraj Engines, with Kirloskar holding 17.39%. In August 2009, it was announced that Mahindra was in talks with Kirloskar to buy its 17.39%.[1]
