The YAK is a heavily armored and mine-protected transport vehicle produced by the German company Rheinmetall Landsysteme AG based on the DURO IIIP chassis from the Swiss company MOWAG GmbH. DURO stands for DUrable and RObust.

The German Army uses the YAK for its military police, EOD teams, and as an ambulance.

The first batch of DURO III vehicles for Germany consisted of 31 vehicles. Another 100 vehicles in the upgraded YAK versions were ordered with deliveries between 2006 and 2009. A total of 296 vehicles are planned for 2012.
