Qingling Motors is a automobile manufacturer based in Chongqing, China that was founded in 1985. It is a joint venture company with Qingling Motors (Group) Co., Ltd. holding 50.1%, and Japan-based Isuzu with 20%. About 3,050 employees currently employed at the plant.
From 1983-2005, Qingling imported the Isuzu Trooper. In 1987, they began manufacturing the Isuzu Pika, with the Isuzu Leopard following three years later. It was a more powerful model. The Pika became the best selling model in China for 10 years. In 1993, the first SUV was introduced, the Isuzu Mu. In 1997, the Isuzu Tiejingang was introduced, which is sister to the Isuzu VehiCROSS. Models were refreshed in 2003 with the introduction of the Isuzu Jingjizhe, based on the Isuzu TF and Isuzu Rodeo, replacing the Mu. The Isuzu Duogongnengche is a Chinese-version of the Isuzu MU-7.
In the commercial vehicle sector, however, is the work of the Isuzu F-Series and Isuzu Lingqingka, with the latest offering coming in 2010, the Isuzu 700P.
Qingling manufactures about 100,000 vehicles each year.
