PlantWorx is a bi-annual UK trade show run by the Construction Equipment Association "CEA" to showcase construction machinery and associated products and services to the Construction industry professionals and operators. The event also has educational features and invites students and local school children on the last day of the show to learn about the industry and careers available.

History[]

The show was created to replace the SED show which folded after the commercial company running it decided to exit the construction sector during the late 2000's recession. The show was initially staged at Stoneliegh Park the former Massey Ferguson training centre in Warwickshire, near the M40 and M6 south of Birmingham. But following issues with that site (availability dates, access, layout and ground conditions) which effected both exhibitors and visitors, a new site was found at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground a former RAF and USAF airforce cold war base in the Midlands, just a few miles from Junction 20 of the M1.

To better suit the requirements of the major plant manufactures and dealer companies it is bi-annual and runs between the Hillhead quarry and recycling show on the odd years. Most of the Major brands of Excavator manufacturers have stands or support a dealer stand at the event. The show features Hands on testing of machinery for suitably qualified operators with a number of demonstrator plots were digging can take place (digging was an issue at other sites and at the SED show due to ground conditions and services). They also run a number of operator 'skill' challenges of dexterity and speed.
