Museum of Museums - Manchester was a museum which was set up by Peel Holdings, a property company in a large industrial building in Manchester adjacent to the Trafford Centre. The museum was possible unique in that it had no collection of artifacts of its own, it just offered a display space for on loan items from other museums collections. The museum opened in spring 2010, but by 2011 it had shut.[1]

The Museum hosted a major touring exhibition on the Egyptology and ‘Tutankhamun – His Tomb & His Treasures’, for 5 months in one hall[2] and had a number of mainly transport related items in the other hall.

The aim was original quoted as: -

The new arts and heritage venue will be the largest exhibition area of its type in the North West of England, with a capacity of over 300,000 sq ft for the purpose of hosting “a vast array of changing collections that will appeal and stimulate the imagination of a wide audience“.

The general section was closed at Christmas 2010 for 'maintenance work' and preparations to stage a new exhibition according to press reports at the time. But then in spring 2011 it was announced by Peel Group that the venue was now re-opening as Event City in March 2011. Event City is billed as the second largest indoor event space outside of London. It has a number of sporting and entertainment events lined up for 2012, includeing a Bike show (Motorcycles) in the spring and a Classic cars show.[3] other events include caravan and motor homes and toy fairs.
