The name Michigan was used as a brand of the Clark Equipment Company for a a line of Loading Shovels. The Clark company had taken over the Michigan Power Shovel Company in 1953.[1]

The Company became known as Clark-Michigan and was taken over by Volvo Group and merged with the Volvo BM division to form the VME Group in 1985.

In 1995 VME America Inc. became Volvo Construction Equipment a subsidiary of Volvo AB.
