Mermerler Otomotiv A. Ş. (English: Marble Automobiles) is a Turkish automobile manufacturer located in Etiler, Istanbul, Turkey.[1] The company was founded in 2003 as a joint venture between the Turkish Mermerler Sirketler Grubu and the Chinese Chery Automobile Co.,Ltd.[2]
The Mermerler plant has taken a strategic position for Chery because Europe is a big target market. There are separate agreements between Mermerler and the European Union for using the European Union Customs Union and taking-up of special items such as tax breaks. The vehicles from the Turkish production can be registered in all European countries.[2]
