The Mercedes-Benz OF 1214 represented the continuity of the front engine buses and above all, continue to maintain the same mechanical approach: this time, as an option to the tireless and long-lived LO 1114 and OC 1214, sharing the latter the characteristic of being frontal and not semifrontal like the first.
Widely used during much of the 1980s and some years of the 90's, it was discontinued in 1993 after the new regulations in Buenos Aires, which prohibited the use of a front engine in urban buses. Likewise, in the interior of the country it enjoyed a certain "popularity" and even today it is common to see it go through rural roads and villages.
