The McCormick-Deering W-6 was a standard tread diesel engined tractor built by the International Harvester company from 1940 to 1953 in Rock Island, Illinois, USA.

Model history[]

For Company history, see International Harvester.

The McCormick-Deering W-6 was the the standard-tread equivalent of the Farmall M, using the same C-248 gasoline engine and 5-speed transmission. It looked very much the same as the W-4 but was larger and more powerful. The W-6 was best seller in its class. It competed with the Allis-Chalmers U, Case D, Huber Modern Farmer, Massey-Harris 101 Senior, Minneapolis-Moline U, and Oliver 80 and was more powerful than the John Deere AR. As other manufacturers came out with improved models in the early 1950s International upgraded the W-6 into the Super W-6.
