Martin Diesel brand of engines are built by the Slovak company D.S. Martin j.s.c. (joint stock company). Based in Martin, Slovak Republic, the company traces back to the Zetor Engine division of Zetor. While the engines have been used mostly in agricultural tractors, they have also been used for forestry, marine, combine harvesters, construction and other applications. The plant was originally established in 1973 as the Zetor Engines Plant. In 1978, it became part of ZTS Martin.

In 1992, Martin Diesel became independent.[1][dead link]

D.S. Martin has also marketed a line of tractors, mostly built by foreign firms and assembled in the Slovak Republic, (either Zetor or Ursus), marketing them under both the Martin Diesel and Mt. Super brands beginning in 2001.[2] Smaller tractors are/were supposedly in development.[3][dead link]
