John Deere-Lanz was John Deere’s German subsidiary between 1961 to 1965. It came 3 years after John Deere acquired Lanz, back in 1956. John Deere decided not to implement abrupt changes to Mannheim. Instead they gradually changed the name and lively, from Lanz to John Deere-Lanz and finally to simply John Deere, and from greyish-blue to dark blue, and then green and yellow, like John Deere's North American tractors.

History[]

In 1956, John Deere bought out Lanz and, for some time, continued with the-then current range of tractors. In 1957, they shortened the line from 17 to 15, then shortened it to 12, then later, in 1958, made even smaller, shortening it to just 11 models. But in 1959, John Deere brought out a new Bach of tractors they'd been working on, adding around 7 completely new models. These stayed the same until 1961, when the name and colour changed from Lanz to John Deere-Lanz and the lively from dark blue to green and yellow. The new tractors were completely restyled to mach the North American lineup. The Lanz name was swept aside in 1965, after the introduction of updated models. The factory has continued to produce new models, including the 6000 series from the '90s.
