The company was an early manufacturer of steam portable and traction engines for farm use and built early ploughing engines.

2 examples survive in the UK;
- Howard no. 110 a Ploughing engine.
- Howard no. 201 a Traction engine.
There is a working live steam model of a Howard engine that can be seen working at events.
