The International 8000 Series, also known as the International TranStar line, is a regional-haul tractor (after-1915-1917 Willys Delivery Wagon, 1917-1925 Willys Delivery Wagon, Willys Whippet Truck (1927-1929), Willys-Six C-113 Truck (1930-1932), International D-1 Truck, International CS-30, International Harvester D-Series medium-duty, International K series medium-duty, International KB series Modified as 1941 Dodge W-Series, International L-Series medium-duty, International Harvester R Series medium-duty, International Harvester Fleetstar, International S2375 (1978–1989), and International 8000 Series (1989–2002)). It is available in two variants. They differ in engines, drivetrains, and axle configurations.

The 8500 model has a wheelbase from 128 to 201 in (3.3 to 5.1 m), is powered by an International HT 570. Its front axle capacity is 10,000 lb (4,500 kg) or 12,000 lb (5,400 kg) Rear single axle has a capacity of 23,000 pounds (10,000 kg) Rear tandem axle has a capacity of 40,000 lb (18,000 kg) Both axles are either Meritor or Dana Spicer and are available with a driver-controlled locking differential. Applications include beverage, city tractor, and regional haul.[1]

The heavier-duty 8600 model has a wheelbase from 128 to 315 inches (3.25 to 8.00 m), is powered by either a Caterpillar or Cummins diesel. Its front axle is either a Meritor with a capacity of 10,000 lb (4,500 kg), 12,000 lb (5,400 kg), or 13,200 lb (6,000 kg) or a Dana Spicer with a capacity of 10,000 lb (4,500 kg), 12,000 lb (5,400 kg), 13,200 lb (6,000 kg), or 14,000 lb (6,400 kg). Rear single axle capacity is 23,000 lb (10,000 kg). Rear tandem axle capacity is 40,000 lb (18,000 kg). Both axles are either Meritor or Dana Spicer and are available with a driver-controlled locking differential. Applications include beverage, city tractor, liquid or dry bulk, and regional haul. [2]
Historical Variant[]
The Transtar name was originally used for the Transtar 4300 which was in concurrent production with the Transtar II cabover in the 1970s.
