The International TD-18A was a diesel engined crawler tractor built by the International Harvester company from 1949 to 1955 in Melrose Park, Illinois, USA.
Model history
- For Company history, see International Harvester.
In early 1949, at 80 belt hp the International TD-18 lagged well behind its chief competitors, the 98-hp Allis-Chalmers HD-10 and 93-hp Caterpillar D-7. In mid year International replaced the TD-14 with the TD-14A. The new model looked exactly the same but an increase in engine rpm from 1200 to 1350 boosted the power output to 98 belt hp. This put it ahead of the Caterpillar and equal to the A-C in power for a short time. However, in 1951 Allis-Chalmers brought out the larger and more powerful HD-15 with torque converter drive. In mid-1955 International replaced the TD-18A with the TD-18 Series 181.
