The 1953 R-200/R-201/R-202 Standard models (26000-30000 lb GVW) and R-205 Roadliner tractor (30000 lb GVW and 55000 lb GCW) making up the R-200 series were almost unchanged from the L-200 series. The Standard models were powered by the 154-hp RD-406 engine and the Roadliner by the 162-hp RD-450. A 1955 update increased the power of the engines to 175 hp for the RD-406 and 182 hp for the RD-450. In 1956 the RD-450 was made optional in the R-200/R-201/R-202 and the 212-hp RD-501 became optional on these models plus the R-205. The maximum GVW for the R-200 series was increased to 32000 lb in 1960 and 34000 in 1962. In 1964 the R200-series was reduced to a single R-200 model while the GVW rating was increased again, to 35000 lb. Higher compression ratios in 1965 increased the power of the RD-406, RD-450, and RD-501 engines to, respectively, 193, 199, and 215 hp. The conventional-cab R-200 was eventually replaced by the short-conventional Fleetstar 1900, although production overlapped.
