In mid-1947 the KB-11 series replaced the K-11 series. The only appearance changes were moving of the triple-diamond emblem from the front of the nose to the top of the grille and adding model designations to the hood sides. The KB-11 series continued with a 27,000 lb GVW rating but International advertised ratings as high as 35,100 lb for favorable conditions. Standard equipment included the 148-hp Red Diamond RED-450 6-cylinder gasoline engine, Fuller 5A620 5-speed transmission, and Westinghouse air brakes. The KBR-11 model was built with a Timken S200P double-reduction rear axle while the KBS-11 had an Eaton 2-speed axle. In 1949 the basic GVW rating of the KB-11 series was increased to 30,000 lb and larger 12.00-24 tires were added to the options list. A new KB-11 model with a Timken R-100 single-reduction hypoid rear axle was added.
