The International Cadet 81 was built by International Harvester from 1977 to 1978 in the Louisville, Kentucky, USA factory. It features a 8 hp (6.0 kW) Briggs & Stratton engine.

The 8-hp gear drive International Cadet 81 lawn tractor was an upgrade of the 7-hp Cadet 76, with the main change being a switch to the 19 ci Briggs & Stratton engine. In 1979 the Cadet 81 was replaced by the International Cub Cadet 182 lawn tractor.
