The International 504 Hi-Clear was a row-crop utility tractor built by International Harvester from 1961 to 1968 in the USA.

Model historyEdit

Main article: International Harvester

For regular utility model see: International 504.

The 504 Hi-Clear was identical to the regular utility model except for longer front spindles and larger diameter rear wheels that provided an extra 4" ground clearance. Along with similar tractors built by other manufacturers, it blurred the distinction between row-crop and utility models and led to this type of tractor being called "row-crop utility".

Tractor Comparison, gasoline version Edit

The International 504 Hi-Clear competed directly with the John Deere 2010 RU (row-crop utility). In 1965 the 2010-series was replaced with the more powerful 2020-series. The 2020 HU (high-utility) model was comparable to row-crop utility tractors. At about the same time, Oliver brought out a row-crop utility version of its 1550 with about the same power output as the John Deere 2020 HU.
