The 404 Utility was an upgrade of the 240 Utility. The former C-123 engine was supplanted by the slightly more powerful C-135, borrowed from the old 340 Utility tractor.
Tractor Comparison[]
With an output of 37 pto hp, the 404 Utility competed with a large group of other gasoline-powered American and European small utility tractors, including the Case 440, Ford 3000, John Deere 1010 and 1020, Massey-Ferguson MF35 and MF135, and Oliver 550 and 1250. Production of the International 404 ended in early 1968.
