Hatz is a German company that as founded in 1880 by two bothers, in. The company started building industrial engines of a variety of sizes in 1904. The firm built tractors for a period in the 1950's and early 1960's. The company is still a producer of engines today.
History[]
The company founded in 1880 by two brothers, began building engines in 1904. with Gasoline engine production at the beginning in 1910, followed by semi-diesel engines and since 1918 diesel engines.
They were late entrants into the tractor market building there first tractor in 1950. The firm built small utility tractors with 1, 2 and 3 cylinder Air-cooled diesels. The firm stopped building tractors in the mid 1960's after deciding to concentrate on building engines. At that time there were many companies building tractors in Germany.
Hatz build industrial engines, from the earliest designs of Rudolf Diesel, up to modern day engines for compact machinery and generator sets. Hatz also supplied engines to Eicher, another small German tractor maker for a period.
By the 1990 Hatz were developing new ranges of compact engines for modern machinery applications. To compete with the Japanese and American built designs. Application include construction machinery, generators and pumps for all markets, and garden machinery.

Hatz engine model range[]
The modern engine range is from 2 kw up to 60 kw for generating sets and pump type applications. The firm supplies complete units or just power packs for incorporation into OEM equipment.[1]
