Goodwin Barsby are a Leicestershire based manufacturer of Crushers and screens. The company was started in 1871 as an Iron foundry by Samuel Goodwin and William Barsby.[1]

- 1871 - Company founded by Samuel Goodwin and William Barsby.
- 1890s - Started manufacturing Crushers for the local Iron industry in Leicestershire.
- 19? Taken over by Leyland & then grouped in the 'Special products' division with Aveling Barford after Leyland's reorganisation in the 1970's to form British Leyland Motor Corporation.
- 1982 - Management Buy Out (MBO) by D.I. Sydenham, D. Auty, M. Mills
- 1989 - Taken over by Boliden-Allis of Sweden
- 199? - Boliden-Allis taken over by Svedala of Norway
- 2001 - Acquired by Metso during Nordberg / Svedala Merger.[2]
- 2006 - GB Acquired by CMS Cepcor (European supplier of crusher & screen in plant spare parts owned by D.I. Sydenham) - from Metso.[3] CMS was formerly Crusher Manganese Steel Ltd. before acquiring Cepcor from the South African OZZ Group in 2005.
- 2006 - GB relaunches the popular single Jaw toggle crusher.

Preservation[]
A number of older Goodwin Barsby crushers can be seen at some of the steam rallies in the working area.Often these are driven by a Traction engine or an early tractor like a Field Marshall with a heavy fly wheel suited to belt drive. Some smaller examples are driven by Stationary Engines.
