Gallagnani SpA is a baler manufactured that was founded in Italy in 1922 by Augusto Gallignani. Today, the brand is co-owned by both Kverneland and IG Holding, which is the Gallagnani family's holding company.

History[]

Gallagnani has always been a baler manufacturer, based in Italy. In 2005, Laverda SpA, owned by ARGO, purchased 50% of the company, with the remaining 50% resting with the Gallagnani family.[1] In 2007, AGCO, of the USA, purchased 50% of Laverda[2], and signed agreements for Gallagani to manufacturer balers for their Massey Ferguson and Fendt brands.

In 2010, ARGO and AGCO announced plans to divest of their Gallagnani investment,[3]. Also in 2010, Kverneland Group entered a long-term joint venture commitment with Gallignani s.p.a. with a new range of round balers (fixed and variable chamber), wrappers and a new range of drum mowers under the Kverneland and Vicon brands, and purchased 30% of Gallagnani from AGCO. In 2012, Kverneland acquired 100% of the round baler business of Gallagnani, while the Gallagnani family, as IG Holding, retains the square baler business and the manufacturing plant in Turkey.[4]

Round Balers[]

The round baler business is owned by Norway's Kverneland Group, itself owned by Japan's Kubota Corporation. Production is in Ravenna, Italy where balers are manufactured under the Gallagnani, Kverneland, Kuhn, Massey Ferguson and Fendt brands.[5]

Square Balers[]

The square baler business is owned by IG Holding, holding company for the Gallagnani family, as GALLIGNANI Tarim Makinalari Ltd. Sti. They have production facilities in Bursa, Turkey and exports to over 70 countries.[6]
