A Immaculately restored Fordson F at the Bath and Southwest Tractor show in 2009
The Fordson Model F was the first mass produced Tractor built by Henry Ford. It was called the Fordson as the Directors of the Ford Motor Company did not want to build it, so Henry Ford set up a separate company, and marketed them as Fordson. But the Ford Motor company actually built them.
Specification[]
20 hp (15 kW), four cylinder engine, bolted directly to the transmission, with no frame to simplify assembly and reduce cost.They delivered 10 H.P. at the drawbar. With a 3 speed spur gear transmission, directly coupled to the Axle. Running on all Steel wheels.
Factories[]
- Factories were set up at Dearborn, Michigan, USA, and Produced Model F's from 1917-1928
- A European factory was set up in Cork, Ireland Producing them from 1919-1922. The farming recession of the 20s caused production to be suspended, but spare part production was continued.
