The Ford 7840 was introduced in 1991 to replace the 7810 when Fiat bought Ford New Holland. It used a 6 Cylinder Diesel Engine and came in 2WD or 4WD like the 7810. It features a 90 hp (67 kW) Ford Genesis engine, and was built in England.

In 1995, it became the New Holland 7840 carrying the Ford name as a small label on the side, with a New Holland badge on the front. It was discontinued in 1999.
