In North America, Farmtrac first appeared as a model line for Long Agri, which the Escorts Group bought. The Long Agri name was discontinued and replaced with Farmtrac There was an assembly plant in Tarboro, North Carolina which was purchased from Long Agri, but the North American subsidiary went into receivership in 2008.[1] Customers, dealers and creditors are still trying to work through the North American troubles.[2] Farmtrac N.A. was purchased by Montana Tractors.

Farmtrac tractors sold in North America were built by Escorts in India, LG/LS in South Korea, UTB in Romania and Farmtrac Europe in Poland, and were previously marketed under the Long Agri, Long LongTrac and Long LandTrac brands.

In Europe, Escorts purchased the Pol-mot tractor plant and has renamed it Farmtrac Tractors Europe. Tractors were originally built under all three brands, Farmtrac, Escort and Powertrac, but they shifted to only use the Farmtrac brand.
