
The DAF 45/55 was a truck from DAF which was based on the Leyland Roadrunner, Competitors include Iveco EuroCargo (1991-2002), Magirus-Deutz MK-series (1980-1992), MAN G90 (1987-1993), MAN L2000, Mercedes-Benz LN2, Mercedes-Benz Atego (1998–2004), Nissan Atleon (1987-2000), Renault Midliner, and Volvo FL (1985-2005).
Following the cooperation in 1986 with Leyland Motors, an establishment between Leyland and DAF in 1987 meant that DAF also now had a modern range of light commercial vehicles. In the 1980s, Leyland had introduced them.
The Leyland Roadrunner appeared due to the cooperation between Leyland and DAF.
