Chengdu FAW Automobile Co Ltd became a partially owned subsidiary in 2002 after the acquiring 80% of the Sichuan Bus Company,[1] FAW was able to retain its cooperation effort with Toyota, and as of 2003 Chengdu FAW Automobile Co Ltd produced Huaxi brand light and medium buses, spare parts and the Toyota Landcruiser Prado.[1] In 2009, Chengdu FAW was sold to FAW-VW Automobile.[2]
Sichuan Bus was in a 50-50 joint venture, Sichuan Toyota Automobile Co. Ltd., with Toyota since 1998. FAW Group acquired a controlling stake in Sichuan Toyota as well.
