The Case IH 585 row crop was a row crop tractor built by Case IH from 1985 to 1989 in the Doncaster, England factory.
Model history
See Case IH 585 for general information on the 585.
The Case IH 585 row crop replaced the 584 row crop which, in turn, was a continuation of the International 584 row crop. The Case IH D-206 4-cylinder diesel and standard 8-speed syncromesh transmission were unchanged but an optional 2-speed planetary power shift was optional.
Tractor Comparison
The Case IH 585 row crop had little competition as row crop tractors in this power class were falling out of favor. The Hesston-Fiat 60-90 was built in the row crop utility style like the Case IH but it was slightly less powerful with a smaller 3-cylinder engine. It was also somewhat more expensive. The Russian-built Belarus 400 was an older style tall row crop tractor. It developed the same pto hp as the Case IH with a larger engine running at lower rpm. The Belarus was priced at little more than half the cost of the Case IH.
