The Case IH 585 tractor was built by the J.I. Case division of Tenneco from 1985 to 1990 in the Doncaster, England factory, along with MFWD, row crop, 4WD, and low profile/orchard variations.

Model historyEdit

After Tenneco purchased the farm equipment division of International Harvester, it merged the International operations into its J.I. Case division. Case combined the Case and International lines to form the Case-International brand. Case-International was later modified to Case IH and all tractors are commonly referred to as Case IH in the industry. The Case IH 585 was based on the International 585, and was similar to the Case IH 584. The main mechanical change from the 584 to the 585 was the addition of the 2-speed Torque Amplifier to the options list. For chassis variations see:

Timeline Edit

  • 1985 - Case IH 585 replaced International 585 in 2WD and MFWD utility versions and 2WD row crop and orchard models
  • 1987 - MFWD row crop version added, orchard model replaced by a low profile version
  • 1990 - Production of 585 ended
