Makers plate on a Fire engine

Carmichael and Sons (Worcester) Ltd were a manufacturer of vehicle bodies and fire appliances on chassis build by other firms. The company was based in Worcester, England.

Company history[]

Founded in 1849 as a coach building company by the Carmichael family of Pershore, Worcestshire.

Manufactured specialist bodywork for the Agricultural industry through early part of twentieth century.

Sequestered during WW2 to produce portable fire pumps for war effort.

Decided to add fire fighting vehicles to product range in 1947 by producing first machine for the local Worcester Fire Brigade.

Entered the export market in 1952 with their for first truck for the New Zealand Fire Service.

Added the specialist Airfield market in 1962 when they manufactured an Airfield Fire Fighting vehicle.

Taken over by the Trinity Holdings Group in 1992. (This company became Mayflower Corp. in 1998 and re-branded company as CIL Carmichael International Ltd.)

Subject to a Management Buy Out in 1999, but continued trading as CIL.

Renamed as Amdac-Carmicheal in ?

In 2008 Merentha Management bought 100% of Amdac-Carmichael
