Bicknells Volvo and low loader at a show
A.G. Bicknell & Co are a firm of boiler makers based in Hampshire England. The company is a noted manufacturer to the heritage steam industry supplying complete boilers and replacement parts for many preserved steam vehicles and undertaking repair work to engines. This is a family business started by two brothers and is now has 3 generations working for it.
The Bicknell family have a number of steam engines in their collection.
Hooky
- Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies no. 31066 - Hooky a crane engine which appears at many shows handling logs timber for the saw mill demonstrations.
- 1916 Marshall no. 70321 - Firefly a 6nhp Traction Engine (UR9369) Engine . Firefly is used to power the Ripett which is portable saw bench used for demonstrations of converting logs in to lumber (timber planks).
- Fowler no. 12257 - Buster a Road Locomotive Engine. Repatriated from Australia and restored to full glory. Is mainly used in the line up at events but has been known to power the Ripett saw bench.
The family also own a Ramsome sims and Jefferies portable which is used to power a small saw bench and a Marshall roller which has been restored by The family as well.
