Mann no. 1747 on show at Beamish Steam fair in 2010

Beamish Steam Fair is a special event held at the Beamish Open Air Museum in County Durham, England.

History[]

Beamish museum[]

Main article: Beamish Open Air Museum

The Museum is a 'living' history museum that setts out to illustrate typical scenes from the early 20th century with a series of recreations of a number of industrial & agricultural scenes telling the story of life in the North East of England. The scenes consist of a number of original buildings moved to the site and recreations plus avast collection of artefacts from trains and trams and mining machinery down to everyday items found in the village shop. Some of the Buildings are original to the site.

2010 Event[]

This was held on the 4 & 5th of September 2010.

Participants[]

Several of the museums own collection of vehicles were in steam and others from the reserve collection were brought out of store for the event;

  • Mann no. 1747 a Steam tractor (not in steam)
  • Several rail locomotives
  • The remains of a early Aveling & Porter engine recovered from a mine shaft
