Basak (BAÞAK or Başak) tractors are built in Adapazari-Sakarya, Turkey. They began producing tractors around 1960, with a license agreement with Ford. An agreement was reached with Steyr of Austria in 1979 to produce Steyr tractors under license. Basak built Steyr tractors until about 1996, when they began using the Basak name on their tractors and engines. In 2003, the company was privatized from government control to become Basak Agricultural Tractors, Earth Moving and Agricultural Machinery AG (BATEMAM AG). They have produced over 45,000 tractors.[1]

In early 2024, it was announced that RostSelMash had sold all shares of Versatile (Buhler Industries) to Turkish-based Basak Traktor. [2] Basak is a subsidiart of ASKO Holding.
