Ashok Leyland John Deere Construction Equipment Private Ltd. is an Indian-based joint venture between Ashok Leyland and John Deere. Based in Chennai, India, the company was set up in 2009, with production to begin in 2010.[1][2]

Products were announced to be marketed under the Ashok Leyland-John Deere brand, and also as John Deere and Ashok Leyland. It will manufacture backhoes and wheel loaders. The first product off the line is a backhoe loader under the brand Leyland Deere. Ramp-up and production was slow, and never grew by much. In 2016, Ashok Leyland announced plans to exit the joint venture to help reduce debt.[3]
