ACO Tractor Equipment was founded in 1986 in Hoopstad, Free State, South Africa by Alph Coetzer and his son Koos Coetzer. They were manufacturers of 4WD articulated tractors and a few MFWD tractors. After building about 450 tractors over the span of 13 years, in 1999 the company and designs were sold to Basil Botha. They are known for producing the world’s third most powerful tractor, the ACO 600 [1]
ACO 2000[]
Basil Botha renamed the company ACO Tractor Manufacturing in 2000, and the tractors were re-engineered to use Caterpillar Engines, and called ACO 2000. The company is now defunct, with very few ACO 2000 tractors having been built.
